The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) launched the Zankoline system on Saturday for 12th-grade high school graduates. Students can access the platform until September 30 to apply for universities and colleges using unique login details provided by their schools. With several new updates, including the optional consideration of Kurdish and Arabic grades, the system aims to streamline the application process and offer educational opportunities, including discounts for Parallel Studies.
Zankoline Launched for 12th Grade Graduates
On Saturday, Abbas Akram, spokesperson for the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research at the KRG, told K24 the official launch of Zankoline, the online system for 12th-grade high school graduates to apply for universities and colleges. Starting at 12 p.m., students can log in using the unique username and password provided by their schools. The platform will remain open for 10 days, during which students can access and complete their applications.
Akram stated that the updated version of Zankoline offers new features, including the ability to consider grades from both 10th and 11th grades if they are high. If the scores are low, they will not be included in the final application. Additionally, Kurdish and Arabic subjects are optional in the application process—if a student scores well in these subjects, the grades will be counted; otherwise, they will be disregarded.
Updated Features and Application Process
The updated Zankoline system includes all necessary information and guidelines for students to complete their applications accurately. Upon logging in, students can view the admission guide, which provides details about the universities and colleges available based on the student’s city of residence or desired place of study. The system allows students to save their work and submit their application later, providing flexibility in the submission process.
Akram emphasized the importance of filling out the application carefully, as the Ministry of Higher Education will not be responsible for any mistakes made when students use business or commercial centers to complete their forms. To avoid errors, the ministry has set up consultation centers and specific agencies to guide students through the application process. These centers are designed to help students avoid mistakes and ensure their applications are submitted correctly.
Opportunities and Discounts for Students
For the 2024-2025 academic year, the Ministry of Higher Education is offering new opportunities for students, including fee-free education for high school graduates. Akram mentioned that students who do not achieve sufficient grades for their desired subjects can still apply through the Parallel Studies program, which offers a 45% discount this year.
The ministry also announced that these discounts on parallel and evening tuition fees will help students’ families save approximately 70 billion dinars annually, making higher education more affordable. The Zankoline system will remain active until September 30, giving graduates ample time to complete their applications.
For more details and to apply, students can visit the website regayzanko.com and complete the application form by logging in with their school’s credentials.
