The Kurdistan Region’s Tourism Department anticipates over 300,000 visitors during the upcoming Eid al-Adha holiday, with comprehensive preparations underway including information centers and special committees to welcome tourists from across Iraq.

The Kurdistan Regional Government has announced extensive preparations to accommodate a massive influx of tourists expected during the Eid al-Adha holiday period. Ibrahim Abdul Majeed, spokesperson for the Kurdistan Region’s Tourism Department, revealed that authorities expect more than 300,000 tourists to visit Kurdistan’s cities during the 10-day holiday period.

Speaking to various media outlets, Abdul Majeed emphasized that complete preparations have been made across both government and private sectors to ensure successful tourist reception. The region has demonstrated its capacity to accommodate nearly 100,000 tourists in a single night, highlighting the robust infrastructure available for visitors.

The anticipated tourists will primarily arrive from southern and central Iraq regions, seeking to spend their holiday vacation in Kurdistan’s attractive destinations. This annual phenomenon has become a significant contributor to the region’s tourism economy, with hundreds of thousands of visitors traditionally choosing Kurdistan for holiday celebrations.

Comprehensive Support Systems Established

The Tourism Department has implemented a multi-layered support system to ensure smooth tourist experiences. On the governmental level, extensive coordination exists between relevant government institutions, particularly border security forces that facilitate easy entry procedures for tourists entering the Kurdistan Region.

Several specialized committees with different responsibilities have been established across the general directorates to closely monitor the situation. Additionally, eight telephone hotlines have been activated across four governorates and four independent administrations to provide emergency assistance when needed.

The coordination extends beyond government services to include complete collaboration with restaurants, hotels, and all tourist facilities, which have been instructed to remain fully operational during the holiday period. This comprehensive approach ensures tourists can access all necessary services throughout their stay.

Sulaymaniyah Enhances Tourist Infrastructure

Sulaymaniyah’s Tourism Department has taken specific measures to welcome visitors, establishing committees at Tasluja and Arbat border crossings to assist tourists and facilitate their reception. Goran Qader, spokesperson for Sulaymaniyah’s Tourism Department, announced the creation of information centers within the city specifically designed to help tourists and provide necessary assistance.

These information centers represent a significant enhancement to the city’s tourist infrastructure, offering visitors direct access to local information, guidance, and support services. The strategic placement of these centers ensures tourists can easily access help when needed, contributing to a more positive visitor experience.

The Tourism Department has also established joint committees with Sulaymaniyah’s local administration to conduct regular visits and inspections of tourist areas and facilities during the holiday period. This collaborative approach ensures maintaining high service standards and addressing any issues that may arise promptly.

The comprehensive preparations reflect the Kurdistan Region’s commitment to developing its tourism sector and establishing itself as a preferred destination for regional tourists, particularly during major holidays and celebrations.
