KRG Submits Salary Lists to Baghdad; Teachers’ Contracts Approved

Omid Sabah, Director of the Diwan at the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), announced on Sunday that the salary lists for August and September will be submitted to Baghdad next week. An agreement will be reached to recover funds cut in July, allowing the distribution of salaries for both months. Meanwhile, the KRG has approved the contracting of all teachers, with the Ministry of Finance set to process their payments, marking an important step toward securing permanent employment.

Salary Lists to be Submitted Next Week

Omid Sabah, Director of the KRG Diwan, stated that the salary lists for August and September will be taken to Baghdad next week. The KRG aims to reach an agreement with the Iraqi government regarding these salaries and recover the amounts deducted in July. Sabah noted that the August salaries could be distributed two days after submission, while September’s payments are expected to follow within two weeks.

Agreement with Iraqi Government on Salaries

The agreement will also address the salary reductions from July, with plans to compensate employees for the cuts. The KRG remains hopeful that negotiations in Baghdad will ensure timely distribution for both August and September salaries. Sabah emphasized that the return of funds is a key priority in the discussions.

Teachers’ Contracts Approved

Ali Rauf, a general representative of the teachers, announced that the names of all teachers will be sent to the Ministry of Finance for official contract employment. This decision was approved by the KRG Council of Ministers. Rauf expressed that while this is a significant step, the fight for permanent employment will continue. He reiterated the commitment to securing long-term contracts and stable wages for teachers across the region.
