Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) will hold its second major forum in Sulaymaniyah on April 23, 2025, led by President Bafel Jalal Talabani, with Qubad Talabani supervising the event under the slogan “With a new vision: strength, progress, and service.”
Historic Gathering Builds on Regional Conferences
PUK’s Supreme Committee announced the forum will be conducted under the theme “With a new vision: strength, progress, and service.” According to the party’s official media, “Based on the internal bylaws approved at the Fifth Congress, the PUK forum is a formal periodic activity and part of the extensive struggle stations of the party comrades.”
The first PUK forum was held in Sulaymaniyah on May 28, 2022. In preparation for this year’s event, nine regional conferences have been conducted since February 15 in Mosul, Duhok, Erbil, Koya, Garmian, Halabja, Sulaymaniyah, Kirkuk, and Raperin, with participation from 12,000 party cadres.
Leadership Confirms Prestigious Event Status
The Supreme Committee has determined that “the second PUK forum will be conducted as the largest political and party event in Kurdistan and Iraq, with numerous Kurdish and Iraqi guests and personalities attending in Sulaymaniyah.”
Dr. Yousif Goran, Secretary of the Supreme Committee for the PUK’s Second Forum, confirmed: “The major forum of the PUK will be held on April 23 with the presence of President Bafel Jalal Talabani.”
Extensive Preparations Across Kurdistan
Following the completion of regional conference tasks and gathering opinions from PUK comrades through detailed discussions and dozens of hours of work across nine conferences throughout Kurdistan regions, with participation of more than 12,000 PUK comrades, the Supreme Committee headed by Qubad Talabani has finalized arrangements.
The forum represents the culmination of extensive grassroots preparation and will showcase the party’s renewed vision and direction under Bafel Talabani’s leadership, positioning the event as a significant political milestone for both Kurdistan Region and Iraq.
