Separately, Talabani met with Tobias Lindner, Germany’s Special Coordinator for Syria, to discuss KRG cabinet formation, Peshmerga reforms, and regional stability, emphasizing the need for inclusive governance and international cooperation.
Celebrating a Legacy of Investment Leadership
Qubad Talabani visited Aziz Saeed, the retiring Director General of Investment in Sulaymaniyah Province, to commend his decades of service. On his Facebook page, Talabani expressed gratitude for Saeed’s dedication, which positioned Sulaymaniyah as Iraq’s leading hub for investment. He also acknowledged the efforts of the entire investment team, whose collective work has driven the province’s economic growth. Talabani’s visit underscored the importance of recognizing public servants who contribute significantly to regional development.
Strengthening Ties with Germany
In a separate meeting, Talabani welcomed Tobias Lindner, Germany’s Minister of State and Special Coordinator for Syria, to discuss bilateral cooperation. Talabani thanked Germany for its ongoing support to the Kurdistan Region and highlighted opportunities to expand collaboration in agriculture, business, and Peshmerga reforms. Both leaders emphasized the importance of a unified approach to addressing regional challenges, particularly in Syria, where they advocated for inclusive dialogue involving all communities, including Kurds, in shaping the country’s future.
Progress on KRG Cabinet Formation and Peshmerga Reforms
Talabani and Lindner also discussed the formation of the new Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) cabinet. Talabani expressed optimism about ongoing negotiations between the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), stressing the need for a government built on genuine partnership. He emphasized that only a unified administration can effectively address the aspirations of the Kurdish people and implement critical reforms, particularly within the Peshmerga forces. Talabani reiterated the KRG’s commitment to working with the Global Coalition to ensure these reforms are successfully carried out.
